Zhuque (Red Sparrow )Bridge

Built in the Six Dynasties, it was originally the biggest pontoon bridge on the Qinhuai River. “By Zhuque Bridge, wild flowers are spreading ”, a verse by Liu Yuxi, a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty, made it famous far and wide. The red sparrow, black turtle, green dragon and white tiger were four spirited animals in ancient times, representing four directions. The red sparrow is  said to be a deity representing the south. Zhuque (Red Sparrow ) Bridge happens to face the south exactly. It was the most bustling bridge on the Qinhuai River in the Six Dynasties.
