Wende Bridge

Wende as two Chinese characters originated from the Confucian idea of “Articles and morality come first in the world”. This bridge is situated right on the Meridian of the earth. Therefore, in the period from 11 pm to 1 am on the fifteenth day of the eleventh month according to Chinese lunar calendar, with the bright moon high above in the sky, the moon-shadow reflected in the Qinhuai River happens to be cut in half by this bridge, a wonder called “The moon separated by Wende Bridge”, or “Wende Bridge accompanied by two halves of the moon”. This natural wonder attracts countless tourists every year.
